1. I usually meet my friends down at the multiplex on a Saturday and we decide what to watch. There’s always something new out that we want to see. Luckily, we have the same taste and don’t spend too long deciding. I enjoy talking about it afterwards -the special effects, the acting and so on. It’s my favourite pastime!
2. I’m crazy about all the new gadgets that come out. I spend most of my free time shopping or surfing the Internet to check out the prices. 3. I have always been a very active person, always trying new sports and spending my time keeping fit. I enjoy sport not only because it is healthy but also because it is a good way to meet people. I’m really into mountain biking at the moment and so I spend most weekends on trips. We sleep out in tents — it’s cool!
4. I spend a lot of my time shopping. I like to shop on my own or with my friends and most of my money is spent on clothes. But I am very careful with what! buy. I always spend time window shopping first and make sure I am getting a good price. It’s brilliant when you find a really nice top, and everyone thinks you paid a fortune for it, when in fact it cost you next to nothing!
5. You might think it strange that I spend so much time at the dog training centre. Most people my age are more interested in clubbing or hanging out at the mall. But it’s great to work with animals. My dog, Roy, has become so obedient now and I have helped my neighbour’s dog as well. It started out as a hobby, but who knows? I might decide to do it as a career.
6. Running errands for people is what I enjoy doing most I usually help my grandma on a Saturday with her shopping and sometimes do some gardening too. There’s always something that you can do to help people. It doesn’t have to be a big job that takes up all your time — even the small things can make difference. I never take money for the work I do. I do it because I want to help.
7. Seeing bands on TV or listening to recordings just isn’t the same. You really need to hear it live. I love to go and listen to my favourite bands and often travel long distances to see them. Sometimes I drive down to London with some friends or I go for a weekend break and fly down. My favourite has got to be the Glastonbury Festival. There you can hear the best music around.

Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart was an American aviator to set many records for her time. She was one of the first women who pioneered aviation in general. She was the first to complete a solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean and from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland.
Amelia Earhart disappeared in 1937 in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe somewhere in the Pacific. Her plane has not been found until the present day and this crash adds to the number of the unsolved mysteries of the 20th century.
Amelia was born in Atchison, Kansas, on July 24th, 1897. She led an active way of life hardly characteristic of the girls of her age: she played basketball and attended a car repair course.
During WWI she was engaged as a nurse of the Red Cross. At that time she developed an interest in aircrafts and spent a lot of time watching planes fly in Toronto, Canada.
Amelia set out on her first flight with one of the renowned pilots of the time, Frank Hawks, in December 1920 and became obsessed with flying.
Her flying lessons began in 1921. Amelia had to work as a clerk at a telephone company to support herself and to pay for the lessons. Some time later she bought her first airplane, a secondhand Kinner Airster, which got the name ‘Canary’. Having obtained her license from the National Aeronautics Association in 1921, she took part in her first flight exhibition in California.
Amelia Earhart is known to have set a number of records: she was the first woman to fly solo at a height above 14,000 feet, to cross the Atlantic, to fly across the U.S. and some others.
On June 1st, 1937 Amelia took off from Oakland flying eastwards. She was eager to become the first pilot ever to circumnavigate the world.
She was accompanied by a navigator. Together they had covered 22,000 miles before they reached New Guinea on June 29th. Around 7,000 miles were left to reach Oakland.
The plane disappeared on July 2nd. A two-week search was initiated by President Roosevelt, and then the crew was officially reported lost at sea. Many theories have been proposed since that time concerning the case. The plane might have run out of fuel and crashed into the ocean. They might have landed on an uninhabited island somewhere in the Pacific and then disappeared. They even might have survived for a period of time on the island. There exist some conspiracy theories stating that both Emily and her companion served as spies or that they were captured and executed by the Japanese.
The most recent evidence has probably thrown light on the accident. A photograph has been found in the National Archives. In the photo there is a ship towing another vessel with an airplane on the deck. Several people may be distinguished on a nearby dock.
It is arguable that the photo had been taken before 1943. The experts are inclined to confirm the authenticity of the picture. The people in the photo are presumably Earhart and Noonan, the navigator. The ship has been identified as the Japanese military craft which took the crew on board after the crash.

Holidays in Great Britain
There are fewer public holidays in Great Britain than in other European countries. They are Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, May Day, Spring Bank Holiday, and Summer Bank Holiday. Public holidays in Britain are called bank holidays, because the banks as well as most of the offices and shops are closed.
The most favourite holiday is Christmas. Every year the people of Norway give the city of London a present. It’s a big Christmas tree and it stands in the Trafalgar Square.
Before Christmas, groups of singers go from house to house. They collect money for charities and sing carols, traditional Christmas songs. Many churches hold a service on the Sunday before Christmas.
The fun starts the night before, on the 24th of December. Traditionally this is the day when people decorate their trees. Children hang stockings at their beds, hoping that Father Christmas will come down the chimney during the night and fill them with toys and sweets.
Christmas is a family holiday. All the family usually meet for the big Christmas dinner of turkey and Christmas pudding. And everyone gives and receives presents. The 26th of December, Boxing Day, is an extra holiday after Christmas. It’s the time to visit friends and relatives.
New Years Day is not such favorable in Britain than Christmas. But in Scotland Hogmanay, New Years Eve is the biggest festival of the year.
Besides public holidays, there are some special festivals in Great Britain. One of them takes place on the 5th of November. On that day, in 1605, Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and kill King James I. He didn’t succeed. The King’s men found the bomb, took Guy Fawkes to the Tower and cut off his head.
Since that day the British celebrate on the 5th of November. They burn a dummy (чучело), made of straw and old clothes, in a bonfire and let off fireworks. This dummy is called a «guy» (like Guy Fawkes).

Не существует единого способа подготовиться к экзамену Delta Module 1, и все будут делать это по-своему. Вот как я это сделал.
