Super Salesman

One nice summer morning in 1923, Arthur Ferguson was walking near Trafalgar Square in London when he saw a well-dressed man. That young American was standing in front of Nelson’s column and looking at the monument to England’s greatest admiral very carefully.

Suddenly a brilliant idea came to Arthur’s mind. Arthur went to the young man and said “Can I help you? I’m the keeper of this ancient monument. In the month there will be no column in Trafalgar Square. That’s a pity! Great Britain had a lot of problems and the British Parliament wanted to sell (продать) the column, the statue, the lions and the fountains to get money. And, you know, all for $6,000. Only a very important, clever and great person will get it. We have already got thirty people to buy it.”

The American man couldn’t say a word. He wanted to get the column and the lions and the statue and the fountains. “I’ll put them near my house, in the middle of my home town in America! Can you help me? I’d like to buy it right now!”

‘I’m sorry, I can’t give you an answer now, I must telephone my boss’, said Arthur. He went to the phone and was back in a few minutes. ‘It wasn’t very easy. But you are lucky. Britain can get your money right now. Can you write down the name and the address of the company? It will help you to transport Nelson’s column to America”.

The American man gave Ferguson all the money and went to his hotel very happy. After the celebration lunch, he telephoned the company but they were very surprised. They didn’t know what to say! The American man called the police. The policemen were not surprised but the American man got very angry because he learnt that one rich American called the police and said that he had paid $10,000 for Big Ben.

Методические рекомендации к выполнению работы.

Итоговая контрольная работа по английскому языку для 7 класса к УМК «English» авторов Кузовлева, В,П.,Лапа Н.М.

Данный тест дает возможность провести контроль знаний в восьмом классе, он составлен на базе лексического и грамматического материала, пройденного за 7 класс. 

Цель работы – контроль лексико-грамматических навыков на материале, изученном в 7 классе.Задания контрольной работы составлены на основе упражнений учебника и рабочей тетради УМК Кузовлев В.П. 7 класс.

Содержание работы

Работа состоит из трех разделов: «грамматика», «аудирование» и «чтение».

Раздел 1 (задания на аудирование) содержит задания предполагающие краткий ответ ( необходимо определить на слух какие вещи купили дети). Рекомендуемое время выполнения раздела составляет 10 минут. 

Раздел 2 (задания по чтению) содержит задание предполагающее развернутый ответ на вопрос. Рекомендуемое время выполнения раздела составляет 15 минут. 

Раздел 3 (задания по грамматике и лексики ) включает в себя задания, предполагающие перевод. При выполнении этих заданий вы должны перевести предложения, используя грамматические и лексические темы : « Future Simple, to be going to, Present Simple, Present Continuous, Present Perfect, Past Continuous, Past Simple, Present, Past, Future Active or Passive, some\any, года, модальные глаголы, артикли. Сравнительная степень прилагательных». Рекомендуемое время выполнения раздела составляет 20 минут. 

За каждый правильно выполненный пункт задания ставится 1 балл. Максимальное количество баллов – 50

Общее время проведения работы 45 минут. Рекомендуется выполнять задания в том порядке, в котором они даны.

We are in Coventry, it’s a very important city that has a long history. You may think that there are many ancient buildings in the city but the situation is different. During World War II the city was destroyed, including the famous city cathedral. After the war the city was rebuilt, but they didn’t know what to do with the cathedral. Many years passed and at last a new cathedral was built near the destroyed one. There is an interesting museum in Coventry, it is the Transport Museum. It has a big collection of English cars, motorbikes and bicycles, some cars are real masterpieces. Tomorrow we’ll go to Warwick, a small town that is near Coventry. It is famous for its castle. It was built for the family of Lord Brooke. Warwick school is famous too. It is a school for boys and it is one of the oldest boys’ schools in England. Nobody knows when it was founded but in the tenth century the name of the school appeared in some documents. Later you’ll see the castle in the town of Kenilworth that was built as a fortress. Centuries ago Queen Elizabeth I stayed at the castle during her visit to the town. No one lives in the castle now. And at last we’ll go to Rugby. The town of Rugby is famous for rugby that was invented there. The game comes from the famous public school of Rugby.
